Jesus Christ Embracing a sinner

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:14-17)

“For when we were still without strength, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6-8)

We are a group of Seventh-day Adventist Christians who believe that when people really understand God’s loving character, they will cease doing evil things, trust their life to God, and allow Him to change them according to His will – “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4)

Satan led people to see God as a being whose chief attribute is stern justice — one who is a severe judge, a harsh, exacting creditor. He pictured the Creator as a being who is watching with jealous eye to discern the errors and mistakes of men, that He may visit judgments upon them. Jesus came to live among men to remove this dark shadow, by revealing to the world the infinite love of God. He is ready to forgive us our sins and give us power to live a new life – a life that honors God.

When Jesus prayed to God, He said: “this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3)
